Air Optix® Colors Contact Lenses
In 2014 Alcon has recently released its newest addition to its already successful family of Air Optix® contact lenses. We have been waiting for a healthier option in the colored contact lens market for some time and it appears that Alcon has added a great product to its already extensive contact lens line.
1. Improved Comfort
Alcon has created a colored contact lens that patients can wear comfortably throughout the day by using technology that was originally developed for their existing monthly contact lenses. This is quite an improvement in the colored contact lens market given the options that were previously available.
2. Improved Breathability
Our favorite characteristic of this new lens is its improved breathability. Again, by using Alcon’s original technology, Air Optix® Aqua Color Contact Lenses offer improved oxygen permeability compared to previously available colored contact lens. This increase in lens breathability results in a healthier colored contact lens option, and makes us more comfortable fitting these lenses.
3. Improved Aesthetics
A final reason we like the Air Optix® Aqua Colors Contact Lenses is the improved artwork of the new design. Alcon’s patented 3-in-1 Color Technology provides more brilliant and natural color options with three dimensional features to provide a natural look for the wearer.
Final Thoughts
Previously available colored contact lenses were typically uncomfortable and just plain unhealthy for your eyes, which made us hesitant to recommend them for habitual use. As stated above, we are encouraged by the improved breathability of this lens and look forward to offering a healthier colored contact lens option to our patients. As always, it is important to remember that contact lenses are medical devices and they should only be used under the direction of a qualified optometrist.
