Monday North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. While Denver is not in the path of totality, we can expect to see 95 to 98 percent coverage around 11:45 a.m. assuming the weather is clear. Optique of Denver would like to remind everyone to never look directly at the sun without using ISO certified viewing glasses. There are many alternative ways of viewing the eclipse safely including live streams and television coverage. Regular sunglasses will not protect your eyes, and if you plan on viewing the eclipse using binoculars or telescopes you must use certified solar filters. If you are purchasing solar eclipse glasses, be sure they are ISO certified and there are no cracks or damage to the lenses. To read more about the eclipse and safety tips, visit www.space.com
